There is a great history of wine making in the country and many fantastic wines are created in the wineries found around the continent. Yet, most of the people who bring up the topic want to talk about the inferior wines produced there. I know price is a driving force in our weak economy, but remember, there are some very nice hidden gems that can be found in the Australian wine section of the local wine shop if shoppers will open their eyes and minds. For those committed to buying a bottle of $7 wine, the real decision is only $3 to get a much better $10 bottle. For three decades I have enjoyed nice wines from Australia. Many of them were value priced. The first hidden gem I found was Tyrell's Long Flat White. I think I remember that the Long Flat labels were sold to another wine maker a few years ago, but I can't remember which winery. It may still be made today, but I have not tasted it in 10 years. I do remember thinking that I had finally found a value wine that I wanted to drink on a regular basis. I first discovered this wine when I was looking to unearth a bottle of Penfolds Grange Hermitage or St. Henri Claret for a special occasion. Australian wines weren't commonly found nor very popular 30 years ago and most shops had only about a dozen Australian offerings. Penfolds was the winery most represented in the shop I frequented. Deccan Plateau Wines launches spicy flavours - Commodity Online Deccan Plateau Wines has the announced the launch of exotic, delicate and natural Indian wines which is aimed at the overseas and domestic markets. The range of wines launched by Deccan Plateau include Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz , Zinfandel, Cabernet-Shiraz , Shiraz-Cabernet-Merlot .Speaking on the launch of the new range of products, wine makers and promoters of Deccan Plateau wines Nitin Shinde and Girish Kamble said the brand of wines will raise the quality bar very high and believe it will be finally India's turn to capture the international wine markets. Nitin is the first qualified wine maker trained in oenology from Adelaide University of Australia. The wines will be exported to Europe, United States and South Africa. While domestically they will be launched in Pune, Goa, and Aurangabad immediately and will be soon made available in Mumbai, Shinde added The Wines show a harmonious blend of the incomparable and distinct flavors of the spices (sweet, sour, pungent, bitter, salty and astringent), bringing in a balance of the elements, they added. The launch of Trivalli (Shiraz-Cabernet-Merlot) wines is first for any wine maker in the country, they added. The wine is fresh with intense black currants, blackberries, cherries and a spicy clove character, the wine will soon be a connoisseur's delight. The highest quality grapes are nurtured at Deccan Plateau's organic farms and then blended to perfection; the wines have been produced from grapes ensuring quality control right from the plantation. Deccan Plateau believes in selecting grape varietals, all cultivated using organic fertilizers and pesticides, and is nothing short of a revolution in wines and wine making, according to a press release.
