From France look for the lean wines of Sancerre and other famous names of the Loire Valley in New Zealand the grape famously makes plump wines in the style popularized by Cloudy Bay. I love Yali Winemaker’s Selection Wetland Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (Majestic, Tesco, £6.49). The new vintage from (and supporting) a conservation area in Chile is good as well as virtuous. Light green in the glass, with wonderful scents of grapefruit and lime peel, and clean, crisp and minerally in the mouth - a very grown-up glug with grilled fish.
